‘He fought the good fight’ — PFN President, Wale Oke pays tribute to Uma Ukpai
The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has paid an emotional tribute to the late Evangelist (Dr.) Uma Ukpai, describing him as “a man who poured his life selflessly into the service of the Lord and the advancement of His Kingdom.”
In his message titled “Farewell to God’s General,” Bishop Oke hailed the revered preacher as “a fearless voice of revival, a father in the faith, and a unifying force in the Body of Christ.”
Reflecting on the passing of the 80-year-old evangelist, the PFN leader expressed both grief and gratitude, emphasizing the divine timing of Ukpai’s transition.
“Though our hearts grieve, we bow to the sovereign will of God for God’s time remains the best. Our comfort is in the blessed assurance that ‘precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints,’” he said.
Bishop Oke commended the late evangelist for his lifelong dedication to soul-winning and revival, describing him as a soldier of faith who “fought the good fight” and now rests in the presence of his Lord and Master.
“He fought the good fight of faith, won countless souls, and now rests with His Lord and Master, whom he served faithfully till the end. To God alone be the glory for a life well spent in His service,” he added.
Ending his tribute, Bishop Oke offered a moving farewell, saying:
“Adieu, God’s General. We will see in Glory.”
He also cited Revelation 14:13 as a message of hope and remembrance:
“Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
The PFN President encouraged believers to honour Evangelist Uma Ukpai’s legacy by continuing his passion for evangelism and revival, echoing his lifelong mission of #100MillionSoulsForChrist.
