Guardiola names player he would’ve loved to coach

Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has named Santos forward Neymar as the player he would have loved to coach.

Guardiola has managed several football icons, including Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.

However, the Spaniard missed the opportunity to manage Neymar at Barcelona because he left Camp Nou in 2012, a year before the Brazilian arrived at the club in 2013.

According to OKX (via City Xtra), Guardiola said he wished he had coached Neymar.

“Always, I would have loved, as a manager, to coach Neymar,” Guardiola said.

“Seeing his grace, his beauty, his movements in his prime at Barcelona with Luis Suarez, Messi and him, under Luis Enrique—they were unstoppable.”
