Troops neutralise notorious militia leader Babawo Badoo in Plateau
Troops have neutralised a notorious armed militia leader identified as Idris Idris, popularly known as Babawo Badoo, during a security operation in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident was contained in a post shared on Thursday on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to Makama, the operation followed the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of arms and ammunition on the outskirts of Lugere Village on October 20.
It was gathered that during interrogation, Idris confessed to leading a network of armed collaborators involved in several attacks within Barkin Ladi and neighbouring communities.
He also offered to guide troops to their hideout in Kassa Village.
However, while leading the troops to the location around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, the suspect allegedly attempted to snatch a soldier’s rifle in a bid to escape.
The troops responded swiftly and neutralised him on the spot.
“A follow-up operation is reportedly ongoing in the area to track down his collaborators and recover more weapons linked to the group,” Makama wrote.
Security officials have also intensified patrols in Barkin Ladi to prevent any reprisal attacks and ensure the safety of residents.
