MSS, 1988 Set donates sports equipment to Alma mater

In a determined effort to pay back to the system that moulded them, the 1988 set of Mbaise Secondary School (MSS), has donated sports equipment to their alma mater.

The items donated included: football kits, volleyball and table tennis equipment, as well as a mowing machine.

Presenting the items, the Leader of the Group, Hon. Chief Justin Agochi Mgbeoduru (KSJI), explained that the gesture is aimed at reviving sporting activities in the school and rekindling the spirit of sportsmanship among students.

Hon Mgbeoduru who pointed out the vital role sports play in shaping young lives, recalled MSS’s enviable history of sporting excellence.

According to him, the school referred to as the “flagship Secondary School of Mbaise,” MSS has produced notable sports icons such as Dr. Patrick Ekeji, the first Nigerian to coach two national teams; legendary goalkeeper Prof. Eddie Oparaoji; and Class of ’88 member, former Nigeria international, Sunny Nwachukwu among others.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the School, the National President of Mbaise Secondary School Old Boys Association (MSSOBA), Barr. Emmanuel Ekechukwu, commended the 1988 set for their ingenuity and love for their alma mater.

He however charged the School Principal, Mr. Paschal Njoku, to ensure the proper safeguarding of the items and pledged to collaborate with government in securing the school.

Both students and school management present at the event expressed enthusiasm and gratitude to the Class of ’88 for their generous gesture, describing it as timely and inspiring.
