JTF arrests two injured bandits, doctors in Kogi
Members of the Joint Task Force (JTF), in a coordinated operation involving local hunters and vigilantes, have arrested two injured bandits and their doctors, following a raid on a criminal hideout in Aherin-Bunu community, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The state security adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), disclosed this during a press briefing on the operation.
According to him, the security team acted on credible intelligence that two bandits who sustained gunshot wounds during an earlier encounter with security operatives were receiving medical attention from unlicensed local doctors in a remote settlement.
“We received intel that two bandits were receiving treatment in a settlement in the Aherin-Bunu community in Kabba-Bunu LGA. We swiftly deployed security personnel and arrested the two wounded bandits. We also arrested fake doctors treating them,” Omodara stated.
He warned that the state government would not tolerate anyone aiding or abetting criminal elements, stressing that those found culpable would face the full weight of the law irrespective of their social status.
“Anyone perpetrating, abetting, or collaborating with criminals will be dealt with, regardless of their status,” he added.
The combined security team also demolished the bandits’ camps, including a makeshift clinic, and destroyed farmland and foodstuffs belonging to the criminals.
The security adviser also assured residents that the government and security agencies remain committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
