‘Forget roads, save our lives’ – Senator Maidoki laments rising attacks in Kebbi South
Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, has raised alarm over renewed bandit attacks in his constituency, saying residents now fear for their lives more than anything else.
Speaking on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, Maidoki said several communities in Kebbi South have been overrun by armed groups, leaving people displaced and living in fear.
“Please save our lives, save our people. We are not bothered about roads or schools now; our people’s lives are in danger,” the senator pleaded.
He accused security agencies of failing to make visible impact despite claims of ongoing operations in the area.
“Today they will say they are here, tomorrow they are there, but in reality, no action is taking place. We need the Senate to compel the armed forces to provide weekly progress reports, state by state,” he said.
Maidoki urged the Senate and relevant security agencies to intensify efforts against banditry to prevent recent gains in counter-terrorism operations from being lost.
