DJ Humility Celebrates Mother’s Birthday Days After Grandmother’s Burial

Popular Nigerian veteran disc jockey, Benedict Afagwu, professionally known as dj humility, has celebrated his mother’s birthday just days after laying his grandmother to rest.

The Rhythm 93.7 FM Lagos resident dj took to his social media page earlier today, October 26, 2026, to share a heartfelt birthday tribute to his mother, marking a swift turn from mourning to celebration within the same family.

The celebration comes barely 72 hours after the funeral rites of his beloved grandmother, Late Ezinne Maria Eruru Nwachi Afagwu (Nee Okwudei), who was laid to rest at the remarkable age of 108 years.

According to the Order of Funeral Mass, the burial was held on Friday, 23rd October, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Akumazi-Umuocha. It was described as a celebration of a fulfilled life.

Late Ezinne Maria was the mother of Late ASP Samuel Afagwu, dj humility‘s father, who died following a clash between police and soldiers in October 2005. The family noted that the tragedy nearly claimed the matriarch’s life at the time, but she lived on to become a symbol of strength and faith.

Despite the recent loss, dj humility, who is regarded as one of the pioneers of hyping in Nigerian nightlife and founder of Classic DJs and H. Records, chose to honor his mother in grand style, appreciating her for her love, sacrifice and resilience.

In his post, the award-winning dj expressed gratitude for life and family, noting that even in moments of grief, there is still reason to give thanks and celebrate the living.
