The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, has honoured an invitation from the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Omoyele, according to a statement by the Osun Amotekun Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu Abass, obtained by NEWS9JA on Friday, voluntarily reported at the Force Headquarters on Thursday.

NEWS9JA had reported that, in the aftermath of the Akinlalu killings by some personnel of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Omoyele was invited by the Osun State Police Command.

However, Omoyele, in a statement, stated that he escaped assassination after he was attacked by unidentified gunmen on Monday, October 6, and sustained injuries. He was receiving medical treatment before his discharge earlier this week.

The statement said, “Upon regaining fitness, he personally appeared at the Force Headquarters as promised to provide clarifications on matters connected to the ongoing investigation into the Akinlalu incident.”

Sources within the Osun Amotekun Corps confirmed that the Commander was neither arrested nor detained.

“The Corps Commander voluntarily honoured the police invitation after his recovery and was never arrested. He has continued to cooperate fully with the investigating authorities.

“Contrary to misinformation circulating on social media, Dr. Omoyele was not arrested. He has been fully cooperative with the investigating team from the beginning,” Abass said.

He added that the Corps Commander remains a disciplined and law-abiding officer dedicated to the ideals of justice and accountability in security operations.

Members of the public were urged to disregard unverified rumours and desist from spreading falsehoods regarding the situation.

The Osun Amotekun Corps reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and cooperation with law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and order across the state.
