Aba Union Endorses Gov. Alex Otti For 2027 — “Your 2 Years In Office Has Wiped Out 24 Years Of Failure”
A powerful political move has reshaped the 2027 governorship race in Abia State. Find out why Aba Union and top political leaders now fully endorse Governor Alex Otti.

….We Didn’t Support You Before, But We Are Now With You – Aba Union Leaders Declare in Landmark Political Reconciliation Meeting
In what many are now calling a defining moment in Abia’s political evolution, the apex socio-cultural and political leadership of the Old Aba Division, under the umbrella of Aba Union, has openly endorsed Governor Alex Chioma Otti as their consensus candidate for the 2027 Governorship Election.
This symbolic declaration of allegiance took place at a high-level private meeting hosted by Chief Theo Nkire, the first Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Abia State, at his residence in Aba. The meeting featured the presence of Governor Otti himself and some of the most influential political, royal, and cultural stakeholders from across the nine Local Government Areas that make up the Old Aba Division, also known as Ukwa la Ngwa bloc.
In a rare show of humility and political maturity, Chief Theo Nkire and HRM Eze Love Nwogu, who serves as President of Aba Union, confessed that the group did not support Alex Otti during the 2023 elections, but have since had a complete change of heart. According to them, Otti’s unprecedented performance in office, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, transparency, and people-oriented leadership, has compelled the bloc to publicly declare their total support for his re-election.
“We’ve seen your works, we’ve seen your sincerity. What we couldn’t imagine in 24 years, you have done in two. We stand with you now—not just as individuals, but as a people, as a bloc. In 2027, you have no opponent.” — Aba Union Leadership
They highlighted major transformational projects across Aba and the Old Aba region, including:
- The ongoing reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road, Aba, using durable rigid pavement technology
- The solid reconstruction of Ohanku and Obohia Roads
- The soon-to-commence rehabilitation of Uratta and Old Express Roads
- The Abia Industrial Innovation Park (AIIP) in Owaza
- The Medical Village in Owerrinta
- The Abia International Airport Project located in Nsulu
They also praised the Governor for extending development projects across the state without political bias and thanked him for being magnanimous in victory despite being initially opposed by their bloc.
Joining in the endorsement were some of Abia’s most influential leaders, including:
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South), who strongly questioned what any opposing candidate could possibly say to the people of Aba after witnessing the visible transformation under Otti.
Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, who declared that Governor Otti is now the consensus candidate of Ukwa la Ngwa for the 2027 elections.
“Anyone thinking of contesting against Alex Otti should first go and see Port Harcourt Road, Obohia, AIIP, and Nsulu Airport. The people have seen real governance, not just promises.” — Senator Abaribe
In his response, Governor Alex Otti expressed deep gratitude to the Aba Union and the stakeholders present. He emphasized that his emergence as Governor was not by his own might but by divine ordination, and attributed his achievements so far to God’s grace and the support of the people.
The Governor used the opportunity to make important revelations:
He confirmed that the late Chief Jaja Wachukwu’s country home is undergoing renovation, and a posthumous birthday celebration will be held on January 1, 2026, to honour the iconic nationalist.
He announced that work would soon commence on additional roads in Aba, including Uratta and Old Express Roads, assuring the people of enduring infrastructure and development.
He reiterated his zero tolerance for political irresponsibility and warned that his administration would act decisively to protect the peace and security of the state.
“This government is about legacy, about laying foundations for future generations. We are not here to play politics with your lives,” Governor Otti declared.
The strategic meeting was attended by a galaxy of political and traditional leaders, including:
Senator Darlington Nwokocha
Rt. Hon. Uzor Azubuike
Chief Chibuike Nwokeukwu, SAN
Pastor Caleb Ajagba, PhD – Chief of Staff to the Governor
Prince Uzor Nwachukwu – Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
Mr. Uche Nwogu – Former Mayor of Aba South LGA and State Coordinator, Harmonised Taskforce
Mayors of Aba South, Obingwa, Osisioma, Ugwunagbo, and Ukwa East LGAs
Traditional rulers and elite stakeholders from across the Ukwa la Ngwa Nation and Diaspora
This is seen by political analysts as a powerful consolidation of support for Otti’s 2027 ambition — one that could render any future opposition dead on arrival.
With this resounding endorsement from Aba Union, a once-opposing bloc, Governor Alex Otti appears to have solidified his political base across Old Aba and Ukwa la Ngwa — setting the stage for what many now believe will be a landslide re-election in 2027.
