After a successful run in Nigerian cinemas and making history as the only African film selected for the 2026 DC Independent Film Festival, the romantic drama DARA: A Port Harcourt Love Story is officially streaming on Fawesome TV.

The film, which first hit cinemas nationwide on September 5, 2025, is now available to millions of viewers worldwide for FREE on the fast-rising streaming platform Fawesome TV.

A Love Story That Captured a City

DARA is an emotional coming-of-age story – a tale of love, passion and danger. It follows Dara (Bless Smile), an upcoming TikTok dancer who gains admission to university in Port Harcourt, only to find campus life is nothing like he expected. When he falls for Sophie, played by breakout Nollywood star Tomi Ojo, he finds himself in the crosshairs of campus terror Agama (Kage Umenze), with dire consequences.

Written by Miracle Abia, directed by Bobby Rak and produced by MMAC Company Productions / Emmanuel “Smile” Edi, the film delivers a deeply emotional and culturally grounded story that highlights love in the vibrant oil city of Port Harcourt.

“We made this film with limited funding but with a big heart for Port Harcourt. We relied on grassroots methods, social media, and the love of the people. To see DARA move from cinemas to being selected among five feature films in Washington DC, and now to Fawesome TV where anyone in the world can watch it for free – it proves that authentic Nigerian stories have no limits.”

With its selection for DCIFF 2026 at the Regal Theatre, Gallery Place, Washington DC on February 15, 2026, the film has already proven its international appeal.
