Car crash claims the lives Liverpool Striker, Diogo Jota and brother
Tragedy struck the football global community this morning Thursday morning 3/7/25 as Liverpool Striker and Portuguese International Diogo Jota met his untimely death in a car crash in Zamora, Spain.
According to a report from the BBC, the crash also claimed the life of his brother, Andre Felipe, in the incident which happened at around 00:30 BST.
The reports have it that the car, a Lamborghini, left the road due to a tyre blow out while overtaking another car, resulting in its catching fire.
The popular striker, now 28, formally married his partner on 22 June, 2025 and the couple had three children together.
The Portuguese international was a key part of the Liverpool side that won the Premier League last season.
In a reaction, the Portuguese national team say Jota was “not only a fantastic player” but “an extraordinary person who was respected by all his teammates and opponents”.
