World Post Day: NIPOST gives 20,000 Nigerian businesses 15% logistics discount
The Postmaster General of the Nigerian Postal Service, Tola Odeyemi, said the agency gave a 15 per cent logistics discount to over 20,000 Nigerian businesses registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN.
Odeyemi disclosed this on Thursday in his remarks to mark this year’s World Post Day, themed, ‘Post for People: Local Service, Global Reach’.
According to her, this year’s World Post Day theme resonates with the mission of the Federal Government agency, which is to connect Nigerians.
She reiterated the agency’s commitment to reshaping the nation’s logistics, digital economy, and service delivery systems in ways that touch the lives of everyday Nigerians.
Odeyemi said NIPOST is working in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the National Population Commission to roll out the National Addressing System with a new digital postcode, which will eventually be the technology on which the addressing system will be built.
According to her, to empower local businesses, “NIPOST introduced a 15% logistics discount for all MSMEs registered with SMEDAN. Through this partnership with SMEDAN, more than 20,000 MSMEs stand to benefit, lowering their operational costs and allowing them to expand their market reach”.
“To further support entrepreneurs, NIPOST has launched its e-commerce platform (Digital Market Places), as part of its renewed commitment to supporting Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
“It enables sales both locally and internationally. Integrated with logistics and secure payments, the platform provides Nigerian SMEs with seamless online shipping, order management, and last-mile delivery solutions, enabling small businesses, digital merchants, and consumers across Nigeria to transact and fulfil e-commerce orders more efficiently,” she stated.
