…. “No Empowerment, No Education Support, Only Empty PR Stunts” – Umuahia Central Concerned Assembly Blasts Lawmaker
A political storm is brewing in Umuahia Central State Constituency as a group of vocal constituents under the banner of Umuahia Central Concerned Assembly (UCCA) has issued a damning statement accusing their representative, Hon. Anthony Abiola Chinasa, of failing the people, promoting self-interest, and running a premature re-election campaign without delivering any tangible dividends of democracy.
In a powerful statement signed by Elder Clement Kalu Iroh (Chairman), Chief Onwuchekwa Hyacinth C. (Publicity Secretary), and Lady Mercy Nkemakolam (Secretary), the group expressed dismay over what they described as Hon. Chinasa’s underwhelming and questionable tenure, marked by “unpaid church donations, unverifiable claims of personal sacrifice, and lack of meaningful community engagement.”
“We are compelled by conscience and duty to speak out. Hon. Chinasa’s tenure so far reflects more of image-building than people-building,” the group said in their statement.
ALLEGATIONS: NO EMPOWERMENT, NO EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT, NO ACCOUNTABILITY
According to the statement, while lawmakers in other parts of Abia State have rolled out impactful initiatives — such as:
- Free WAEC/JAMB registration
- Skills acquisition programmes
- Youth empowerment
- Small business support for traders and artisans
…the Umuahia Central representative has done little to nothing in these areas.
“Our youths remain neglected, our traders have received no support, and our students have been abandoned. While others serve their people, our representative serves his image,” the group said.
“I SOLD MY PROPERTY FOR THE PEOPLE” — BUT WHERE’S THE EVIDENCE?
The group also faulted Hon. Chinasa’s claim of selling personal property for public service, describing it as vague and unsubstantiated.
“If indeed public interest was the motive, why is there no record of the impact? Where are the beneficiaries? Where are the projects?” the group questioned.
MIDTERM CAMPAIGN LAUNCH SPARKS OUTRAGE
The Concerned Assembly condemned the recent launch of a 2027 campaign forum by Hon. Chinasa — describing it as a sign of misplaced focus and early desperation.
“How can a lawmaker who has failed to perform in two years be thinking of re-election? Is this the time for campaigns or for service?” they queried.
They pointed to past representatives of Umuahia Central who, according to them, left legacies of development, community engagement, and pride — contrasting them sharply with the current lawmaker’s absence of legacy projects.
CALL FOR ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRUTHFUL LEADERSHIP
The Umuahia Central Concerned Assembly ended their statement with a strong call for:
Transparent representation
People-centered leadership
Abandonment of political propaganda in favor of measurable service
“Let Hon. Chinasa face the people with results, not slogans. Let Umuahia Central rise again through truth and accountability.”
